Projects
Over the years, Project Atchison has created or partnered in so many wonderful community-enhancing projects. Below is a sampling of some of our past and current projects. If you have a project idea for us please
Park Workdays
Our group has worked on LFM Park, Jackson Park, and Reisner Park in Atchison. We trim bushes and paint benches to help with deferred park maintenance projects.

Extreme Neighborhood Makeover
Starting in 2021, Project Atchison organizes large block makeovers with volunteers of all types. Each spring this two day event involves yard work, cleanup, and skilled labor projects.

Candidate Meet and Greets
Held in October each year, the Candidate Meet and Greet provides an opportunity to meet the local candidates that up for election and register to vote.

Stop, Collaborate, and Listen
Each year, local Atchison nonprofit agencies work non-stop to provide vital services to our community. With so much need in our community, it is vital our current agencies collaborate effectively. Project Atchison provides a space for these conversations to happen twice each year.

Party in the Park
The annual fall celebration of Jackson Park, a community gem including live music from local bands, food vendors, a corn hole tournament, disc golf tournament, and much more!

Shop Atchison Saturday
On the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving, Project Atchison has provided prizes for customers shopping in downtown Atchison for Christmas.

Trash Mob
Varies times throughout the year volunteers will meet up for a few at a location around the county that needs some TLC.

Thanksgiving
extravaganza
Project Atchison has helped families in need during the Thanksgiving season by collecting and organizing food for local pantries.

Sleep in heavenly peace bunk build
We partnered with our local Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter to build five bunkbeds for local children who did not have a bed to sleep in at night.

Sunday funday in the park
One of our first events was a Jackson Park Coed Volleyball Tournament called Sunday Funday. This event was to encourage young families to use Jackson Park more frequently.

mud & Suds Fun Run
The Mud & Suds Fun Run was for elementary aged kids and included both mud and bubbles.

Atchison county fairgrounds rehab
Our volunteers power washed and repainted one of the show barns and seating area used for the yearly Atchison County Fair in Effingham, Kansas.

Beer mud run
Along with the Mud and Suds Fun Run, adults could participate in a Beer Mile Mud Run at Jackson Park! It was hot, the beer was cold, and we drug everyone through the mud!

Pop up beautification projects
Project Atchison members have completed beautification projects in front of Atchison Childcare Association, the Atchison sign, the Farmers Market, Independence Creek, Jackson Park, a downtown parking lot, and Atchison Community Health Clinic.
